Think Before You Click - Social Networking Safety
How to Stop Cyber Bullying
Cyber bullying is fast becoming a crisis level problem at many middle schools and high schools throughout the country.
"Cyber Bullying also known as electronic bullying or online social cruelty is defined as email, instant messaging (IM), in chat room, on a Web site, or through digital messages or images sent to a cellular phone." Cyber Bullying, Blackwell Publishing
Cyber Bullying can also take place on a web site, blog, Facebook, Twitter, My Space and YouTube. Any place on the web or on the cell phone where many others can download, print or send it to other fans and friends of their social media sites.
"Think before You Click" is an informative, fast moving and hilarious assembly, webcast, or webinar, that helps the middle school students understand that Cyber Bullying is not only hurtful and vicious, but also may be illegal, and will likely never go away.
Richard Pau's Duck Sense Middle School Bully Prevention assembly program, "Think Before you Click", implements humor, ventriloquism, audience interaction and a game show grand finale to explain why cyber bullying is wrong, how it can hurt both the target and the bully for life, why it may never go away, what you can do if you are a target of cyber bullying, how to make report and the legal ramifications.
At the beginning of the assembly Richard opens with a hands-on funny example that involves most of the audience. Through this hilarious activity they come to understand quickly that what you send out on line can be uploaded anywhere in the world and in most cases never goes away. They discover that even though they try to clear it, someone, somewhere still has the information, and it could haunt the bully in the future when they are looking to attend the school of their choice or future employment opportunities.
Through real cyber bullying stories from both former targets and bullies they will come to understand the cruelty and the seriousness of their actions.
Twitter, Facebook, Google, My Space, Verizon, and more have protectors in place to help Cyber Bully Targets. Richard will not only explain these procedures, he will also supply the school with a handout that includes information from these social media outlets and other local, state and federal agencies that offer help to cyber victims and targets.
"Think Before You Click", is a fun, fast moving cyber bullying middles school program that will keep their attention, but most importantly it will give students the information, procedures and tools they need to report and put and end to the Cyber Bully problem.
